When Resolutions Don’t Resonate

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”

— Philippians 1:6

The start of a new year often brings pressure to get things “right.” Resolutions, goals, new routines. But sometimes, what we need most isn’t a plan—it’s permission to begin gently, or not at all.

If you’re walking into the year without clarity or motivation, you’re not off course. The truth is, God doesn’t require a resolution to continue His work in you. His faithfulness isn’t tied to your productivity.

It’s rooted in His character.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us that the good work happening in our hearts isn’t something we must carry alone. God began it. And He will finish it. Even if we don’t feel strong. Even if we’re unsure. Even if we haven’t written a single goal on paper.

You don’t have to have the year all figured out. You just have to keep walking with the One who’s already at work.

Grace Notes

This year, I didn’t make resolutions. I opened a blank page to try—but nothing came. Instead, I felt a quiet nudge: just keep walking.

That was enough. That still is.
